
Requirements
Artist’s Responsibility
Library presence:
Artists will spend a minimum of 6 hours per week in the library during their residency making and creating art in the designated art space in the main area of the library. The studio hours allow will allow library patrons to observe art in the making and give the artist an opportunity to share information about their inspiration, materials, and process.
Events and activities:
In consultation with staff, the Artist in Residence will plan and host a minimum of 3 public events or activities. The purpose of residency events are to educate and engage the community in the creative process. Programs can include interactive sessions, workshops, classes, demonstrations, presentations, or other forms of community engagement, with opportunities for all age groups.
At the end of each residency, artists will provide:
- A short presentation to the Library Board about the residency
- Access to the following to be used in the library's website and promotional materials:
- Photograph(s) taken by staff of the artist at work during the residency
- Physical or digitized work of art from the residency
- Interview between the artist and the library (video recording to be used on the library's website and/or social media)
Library's Responsibility
Studio Space:
The library will provide a designated space to work in the main area of the library with a work surface and seating.
Exhibit Space:
Library exhibit space will be made available for artist's work for the period of the residency.
Marketing and PR:
The residency and related events will be promoted on the library's website, social media outlets, and in promotional materials.
Stipend:
Artists will receive $2,500, plus supplies (up to $500).
