Express Library Service

The library is currently only open for Express Service for the safty of our staff and visitors. Patrons can call the library to request materials over the phone at (608) 845-7180, stop by in person (see hours below), speak to a library staff member at one of the Express Desks, or fill out a Librarian's Choice form.
Additionally by order of Dane County Health, every person, age five (5) and older, must wear a face covering that covers their nose and mouth when in the library, unless specifically exempted by the order. Free masks are available at the library.

The library is not accepting donations of used books at this time.

Current Library Hours:

Monday - Thursday
9:00 - 10:00 am    open for senior citizens & high risk individuals
12:00 - 7:00 pm    open for all visitors     
9:00 - 10:00 am    open for senior citizens & high risk individuals
12:00 - 6:00 pm    open for all visitors 
9:00 - 10:00 am    open for senior citizens & high risk individuals
12:00 - 4:00 pm    open for all visitors
*The library will be closed each day from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm to allow time to for cleaning and restocking. Curbside pick-up and phone service is still available during those times*

Express Library Services include:

  • In-person holds pickup
  • Self check-out
  • Library cards
  • Printing / scanning / copying / faxing
  • Computer and Internet access
  • A small selection of new books and walk-in items will be available for browsing in the center part of the building
  • Staff on hand to retrieve materials from the closed areas of the library

Library Steps to Increase Safety:

  • Library employees will wear masks
  • Hand sanitizer available at public desks
  • Service desk has a protective shield
  • Seating is at least 6 feet apart
  • Quarantine of all returned items before check-in
  • Patron computer time limited to 1 hour/day

Curbside Pick-up Service is available for patrons who do not wish to enter the building. 

Returning Materials:

Patrons can return materials inside the library during open hours or through the outdoor book return at any time. For patrons who want to return oversized materials that do not fit through book return and who do not feel comfortable coming inside the building, please call the library to arrange a time to leave items at the curbside table.

Due to COVID-19, returned materials will not be checked in until after a 4 day quarantine. All returned materials will be back dated to reflect the day they were returned. The library does not charge late fees. It may take as long as a week for returned items to be checked in and removed from your library account, thank you for your patience.
